The new High Protection Areas in the Hauraki Gulf are all about giving marine habitats the best chance to bounce back. An HPA protects everything from the surface to the seafloor - Things like commercial and recreational fishing, collecting shellfish, large-scale sand or stone removal, and dumping waste aren’t part of these zones.
