The transformation of raw wool into Harris Tweed® continues with the washing process 🫧 Returning from the weaver’s home to the mill in its greasy state, freshly darned tweeds make their way to the first stage in the finishing process - scouring and milling. Each tweed is sewn together to ensure a continuous loop, then loaded into the basin and washed to remove the oil and impurities picked up from earlier production processes.
