Spixs Macaw Re-Introduction Project – Spixs Macaw Association
The Spix's Macaw Re-Introduction Project is tasked with reintroducing the "extinct in the wild" Spix's Macaw, the rarest parrot in the world. It is the only re-introduction of a bird species considered extinct in the wild by ICUN.
Funds - Spixs Macaw Re-Introduction Project
The funds will be utilized to construct the Spix’s Macaw Re-Introduction Project facilities and provide five years of operating expenses for the breeding and reintroduction of the parrots into the wild. The five year Project reintroduction projections show a viable, growing, self-sustaining wild population of Spix’s Macaws.

The Spix’s Macaw Re-Introduction Project facilities will be built and administered on the 6000 acre (2400 hectare) Spix’s Macaw Preserve, created in 2008 by Sheikh Saoud bin Mohammed bin Ali Al-Thani. The Al-Thani family has graciously donated the use of this preserve to the project.
