“Love Island USA” contest Yulissa Escobar has broken her silence about her sudden exit from the show. After being dropped from the reality dating series in Episode 2, Escobar took to Instagram Friday to address speculation about her departure and apologize.

"I used it ignorantly, not fully understanding the weight, history, or pain behind it," Escobar wrote in an Instagram post Friday, shortly after clips of her using the N-word resurfaced

During episode two on Wednesday night, viewers learned Escobar left the villa when series narrator Ian Stirling quickly announced about 18 minutes into the show, “Yulissa has left the villa.” While the reason for her exit had yet to be revealed, it came shortly after clips of her using racial slurs resurfaced online.
