The Boston Red Sox made their first move ahead of the Major League Baseball trade deadline, bringing veteran pitcher Steven Matz.

The Boston Red Sox acquired left-hander Steven Matz from the St. Louis Cardinals, the teams announced Wednesday night.

Matz should throw a lot of curveballs and sinkers. He has used his sinker 59.4% of the time this season. He has thrown it more than 50% in every season except 2022 when he used it 48.5%. He’s in the 89th percentile in fastball run value.
