Dolores 'Dodie' Osteen, who founded Houston's Lakewood Church with her husband and helped guide her son to become one of the world's most popular televangelists, died at her home, her family has announced.

Known as ‘Mama Dodie’ to the entire Lakewood family, together, we celebrate her amazing life,' her Joel Osteen said about his mom's death.

"Dodie" Osteen, a Baytown native, was the widow of Lakewood co-founder John Osteen. She handled prayer duties and funeral at the church, the Houston Chronicle reported in 2016. She credited her faith with healing her through major health scares, including a bout of liver cancer, and even hosted a drive-by healing service outside the church.
