WASHINGTON (AP) — Sen. Josh Hawley is brushing off President Donald Trump's quip that he's a “second-tier” senator after the Republican’s proposal to ban stock trading by members of Congress — and the president and vice president — won bipartisan approval to advance in a committee vote.

Republican Sen. Josh Hawley voted with Democrats to advance legislation to ban members of Congress from owning individual stocks.

Wednesday for forging ahead with his proposed ban on congressional stock trading, accusing the senator of enabling Democrats to target him. Hawley’s Preventing Elected Leaders from Owning Securities and Investments (PELOSI) Act cleared the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee in an 8–7 vote,
