J.J. Spaun managed the rain and a tough Oakmont course to win the 2025 U.S. Open, the first major victory for the California-native.

The poor weather conditions at Oakmont Country Club got the better of most of the competitors at the 2025 U.S. Open during Sunday's final round, but J.J. Spaun overcame the challenge with a late surge to win his first career major.

Spaun is now eighth in the Official World Golf Ranking, a jump of 17 spots. He's moved up 10 spots in the U.S. Ryder Cup standings and is third, with the top 6 earning automatic spots after the conclusion of the second FEC playoff event, Aug. 17.

The final round of the U.S. Open on Sunday at Oakmont Country Club will resume after a near two-hour delay caused by heavy rain with overnight leader Sam Burns clinging to a one-shot lead over Australian Adam Scott.

The U.S. Open has been dealing with rain throughout the tournament at Oakmont and faced a lengthy weather delay during the final round on Sunday. Initially, golfers were playing through the rain before play was halted.
