According to GitHub’s internal tests, direct copying occurs in roughly 0.1 percent of Copilot’s outputs—a surmountable error, according to the company, and not an inherent flaw in the AI model.
The move affects users of GitHub’s most advanced AI models, including Anthropic’s Claude 3.5 and 3.7 Sonnet, Google’s Gemini 2.0 Flash, and OpenAI’s o3-mini.
“AI and software development are now inextricably linked for the rest of our lives,” GitHub CEO Thomas Dohmke said today during a presentation at the Collision conference in Toronto, Canada.
