Newly-sworn in FBI Director Kash Patel to be tapped to run the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives as acting director, according to sources.

Patel is set to lead an agency that's been a frequent target of Republicans, including an effort to abolish it altogether.

Patel joins the list of nominees who endured an uphill battle before finally getting confirmed. They include Robert F. Kennedy Jr. as secretary of Health and Human Services, Tulsi Gabbard, the director of national intelligence, and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth.
