Brave New World brings back one of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s most underutilized villains after a 16-year absence. Samuel Sterns (Tim Blake Nelson) was last seen in 2008’s The Incredible Hulk when exposure to Bruce Banner’s blood triggered his transformation.

Actor Tim Blake Nelson's wonderfully goofy take on the Leader helps forgive a lot of the clunkier parts of Brave New World. But the character would have been so much more impressive had it followed the model set by the groundbreaking comic book series The Immortal Hulk.

Brave New World saw Anthony Mackie's Sam Wilson return to the MCU, but the Avenger was left without a vital fellow hero.
