A man has been charged with attempted murder after a police officer was hit by a vehicle in East Lothian. Andrew Yorkston, 34, is alleged to have struck the officer with the car on Haddington High Street at about 15:55 on Tuesday. The officer was taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh for treatment, but was later released.

Officials say the suspect was seen carrying a machete inside a Target, prompting a police call that ended with the officer injury.

Timothy Lewis, 54, allegedly shot a man on April 28 in the 600 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard shortly before 2 p.m. The victim suffered wounds to both legs, including a broken femur bone, a Trenton police spokesperson announced.
