HAZARD, Ky. (WYMT) - Rain is coming to Eastern Kentucky as we head into the evening hours.

The First Alert Weather Team says more fog will develop tonight with dense fog in some areas through the morning commute.

Tracking some local lake effect snow showers to start our Wednesday with light accumulations. A fluffy coating to a couple inches likely near and north of Rochester into Wayne County. The flakes end mid to late morning and quiet and cold weather this afternoon into tonight.

Scattered showers and possibly a few storms are expected by mid-morning through early evening. The greatest chance of rain will be in the afternoon, with the greatest risk for strong to severe storms north, over Tennessee and Kentucky. The highs will remain unseasonably warm, with low to mid-70s.

We will enter a First Alert Weather Day late tonight as snow will cause slippery to snow covered roads on the Thursday morning commute.

CBS News New York's Lonnie Quinn is tracking Thursday's snow event, which figures to make a mess of the morning commute.

We will remain partly to mostly cloudy overnight with lows in the 50s. Tomorrow will start off cloudy with a few showers.

As we head into the second half of the week, we will see storm chances pick up Wednesday and Thursday. Some places could see a little bit of localized flooding, vivid lightning and perhaps some small hail.
