CHICAGO (CBS) — Widespread snow is on the way for the Chicago area. Snow ramps up area-wide by the time the Friday morning rush picks up. There is steady snowfall for several hours, giving way to slick roads. Expect the snow to taper off Friday afternoon and shift into Northwest Indiana.

Chicago-area residents will wake up to a light blanket of snow Friday morning that could complicate the morning commute, according to the National Weather Service. Snow was forecasted to begin falling between 5:30 and 6 a.

Snow is expected across the Chicago area during the Friday morning commute, ABC7 Chicago meteorologists said. Iconic landmarks such as the Hollywood Sign were engulfed in smoke from the LA wildfires.

The Cubs and outfielder Kyle Tucker could not come to an agreement on a salary for 2025, according to a report from ESPN's Jesse Rogers. Rogers reported the Cubs filed at $15 million, while Tucker wanted $17.

The Chicago Cubs have six arbitration eligible players this off-season. According to current reports, all but two have agreed to deals for 2025 and have avoided arbitration. Of those who have not agreed to a deal is newly acquired Kyle Tucker.
