Detroit police are searching for a man who boarded a city bus and shot a passenger on Wednesday morning. The shooting occurred on 8 Mile Road between Mt. Elliott and Sherwood streets, just one day after a separate stabbing incident on another Detroit Department of Transportation bus.

Meanwhile, the suspect, who exited the bus after the shooting and hitchhiked to the area of Mound and Davison, is still on the loose, police say.  First Assistant Chief Charles Fitzgerald said in a video distributed to the media by the department that investigators don't know what prompted the shooting.
