Denver Nuggets superstar Russell Westbrook is reportedly close to securing his future for the upcoming season, triggering heightened anticipation for an official announcement from the team's fervent fan base.

Russell Westbrook has declined his £2.7m Nuggets contract option, entering free agency at 36 and sparking rumours about his NBA retirement.

While he is now 36 years old and five seasons removed from his last All-Star appearance, Westbrook remains a productive player. In 75 appearances (36 starts) for Denver last season, the 2017 league MVP averaged 13.3 points, 4.9 rebounds and 6.1 assists.
