Al-Shaair did not practice for Houston on Tuesday and was a limited participant in the Texans’ remaining practices this week. He is officially listed as questionable for Houston’s playoff tilt against Kansas City.

The NFL has been taking heat from all sides with quarterback slides and word is that there's a plan to cool things down with new replay assists.

Al-Shaair (knee) finished the 2024 season with 70 tackles (45 solo), including 2.0 sacks, four pass breakups and two forced fumbles across 11 regular-season games. Al-Shaair missed three games with a knee injury and was then suspended later in the year after a helmet-to-helmet hit concussed Trevor Lawrence in Week 15.

Structuring this week’s Quick Outs column was a breeze. Four games, four topics — simple as that. It was just a matter of sorting out which game deserved which framing.

However, general manager Nick Caserio must address critical roster decisions to keep the Texans on their upward trajectory. Injuries can only serve as an excuse for so long. The element of surprise that defined Houston’s 2023 campaign is no longer a factor.
