Russia has launched one of its largest aerial assaults on Ukraine in months, targeting Kyiv overnight into Monday.

Russia has advanced around Pokrovsk for many months, but has so far failed to entirely encircle or seize control of the city.

Another attempt at peace talks between Ukraine and Russia is on the horizon amid Russia's continuous assault on Ukraine. Russian drone and missile strikes killed at least two people and injured 15 others in Kyiv just hours before the United Kingdom and Germany will hold a meeting to discuss President Trump's plan for NATO allies to provide weapons for Ukraine.

The shipments have allowed Russian weapons-maker IEMZ Kupol to increase its production of the Garpiya-A1 attack drone, despite the U.S. and E.U. sanctions imposed in October designed to disrupt its supply chain,

Ukraine's air force said on Monday Russia had fired 426 drones and 19 cruise missiles at the country overnight, as well as five hypersonic ballistic missiles.

The barrage of exploding drones and missiles appeared to be the most intense attack since President Trump announced a plan to get more weapons for Kyiv.

Moscow wants to be able to deploy 2,000 drones in a single strike, according to the assessment of a senior German military official.
