Israeli troops who seized strategic ground in southern Syria after the fall of Bashar al-Assad will remain on the summit of Mount Hermon indefinitely, Defence Minister Israel Katz said on Tuesday after visiting troops there.

Israel has arrested two soldiers on suspicion of spying for Iran in return for money, its police force said on Monday.

Both Israeli citizens accused of spying for Tehran "understood they were in contact with an Iranian handler," authorities said.
