It was at a relatively minor event in upstate New York in September 2022 that Ilia Malinin, the self-anointed “Quad God” who was fast becoming the biggest name in figure skating, finally landed the jump that so many people had thought impossible.
For 1998 gold medalist Tara Lipinski, practicing and executing quintuplets, which Malinin is rumored to have already done in training, “really is man-on-the-moon-type skating.” The Olympian says Malinin has “revolutionized men’s skating and is doing things I never thought possible.”
Simply put, Ilia Malinin has the greatest array of jumps any figure skater in history has ever possessed. He’s launched himself into the air for seven quadruple jumps in a single long program at last month’s Grand Prix Final and was the first skater to land a quad Axel.

Costume: Figure skaters select outfits that match the style of their programs and the mood of their music. Women can wear a skirt or pants and men must wear full-length trousers, but not tights. Accessories, props and apparel that gives "the effect of excessive nudity" are not allowed.
