A candlelight vigil outside Portland City Hall drew hundreds of people Thursday night, hours after a Border Patrol shooting injured two people in the city, sparking outrage and vows of solidarity with Minneapolis, where a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent shot and killed a woman Wednesday.
Two people in Portland were injured in a shooting involving federal agents on Jan. 8, said City Council President Elana Pirtle-Guiney. "These individuals are still alive and we’re hoping for more positive updates," said Pirtle-Guiney at a City Council meeting on Thursday.

Portland Police officers responded to reports of a shooting on the 10200 block of Southeast Main Street at about 2:18 p.m. local time and confirmed federal agents were involved, according to the city.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — Federal immigration officers shot and wounded two people in Portland, Oregon, on Thursday, authorities said. The FBI’s Portland office said it was investigating an “agent involved shooting” that happened around 2:15 p.m. “involving Customs and Border Patrol Agents in which 2 individuals were wounded.”
Oregon Gov. Tina Kotek spoke out after the Portland shooting that involved federal agents, saying the events were "instigated" by the Trump Administration's "reckless" agenda. She went on to call for transparency and accountability for the shooting.
The Department of Homeland Security says the incident began with the traffic stop of a Venezuelan gang member.
