Summer McIntosh is off to a perfect start at the swimming world championships with two gold medals in two days.

Also Thursday, Canada placed sixth in the women’s 4x200 freestyle relay final, with Brooklyn Douthwright, Sienna Angove, Ella Cosgrove and Ella Jansen finishing in 7:52.52. Australia won gold in 7:39.35, ahead of the United States (7:40.01) and China (7:42.99).

McIntosh absolutely dominated the field, swimming to a time of 2:01.99. Despite leaving her competitors behind, there was some slight disappointment by the 18-year-old phenom after she touched the wall and realized that she came within 18 hundredths of a second of erasing the oldest record in women's swimming.
