The hospital giant, one of the state's top employers, “is acting now” to close the $250 million budget gap over the next two years.

Mass General Brigham's first round of layoffs was last month companywide, including at Wentworth-Douglass. At that time, company leaders said there would be more layoffs in March.

The layoffs were slated to stem projected financial shortfalls and are occurring as part of an ongoing consolidation of the state's largest health care system.
