Johnson was waived with an injury designation Wednesday and will now head to injured reserve, where he'll be forced to miss the 2025 season unless he's later cut with an injury settlement. The 26-year-old has has appeared in 22 career regular-season games, recording eight tackles (six solo), mainly as a special teams player.

“It’s been a long year, but The Workhorsemen are both 100-percent officially cleared to return to the ring. Let us rejoice!” the pair announced on Twitter. The Workhorsemen have been out of AEW competition since their last appearance during a taping of AEW Collision in May 2024.

The Royals’ rotation took a big hit on Saturday when the team placed Seth Lugo (right third finger sprain) and Cole Ragans (left groin strain) on the 15-day injured list. Lugo’s IL stint is retroactive to Wednesday.
