There’s a long way to go yet in Poland’s presidential election — but Sunday’s first round was a good day for candidates on the right and far right and it flashed a big red warning signal for the moderate government of Prime Minister Donald Tusk.

Romanian, Portuguese and Polish nationals have been casting their ballots, with millions of Europeans taking to the polls on Sunday.

In Portugal, the parliamentary election saw the governing centre-right Democratic Alliance (AD), led by Prime Minister Luis Montenegro, take 89 seats in the 230-seat parliament, well short of 116 needed for a majority. The party garnered 32.7 percent of the vote.
