Perplexity, the fast-growing AI search start-up, has made an unsolicited $34.5 billion cash offer to acquire Google's Chrome browser.

Other high-profile AI chatbots include Google's Gemini, Anthropic's Claude, Microsoft's Copilot, Meta Platform's Llama, and DeepSeek — a Chinese chatbot that created a stir earlier this year because it was reportedly developed for just $6 million.

Tuesday’s disclosure that Perplexity wants to buy Chrome may be intended to influence a federal judge more than Google/Alphabet. Either way, it’s getting a lot of attention, which might have been Perplexity’s primary goal.
